St Denys is a growing family church at the heart of Stanford in the Vale. We are one of three churches in the Parish of Stanford in the Vale with Goosey & Hatford within the Diocese of Oxford in the Church of England. We attract people from a variety of different Christian backgrounds, ranging from evangelical and charismatic to eucharistic and traditional.
We are a church for the whole community and seek to make everybody welcome, whether you already count yourself as a Christian, or are just looking. We offer a variety of services that range from 1662 prayer book to very informal family worship and a monthly Messy Church in the village hall.
You are very welcome to join us at any of our services. On this site you should find everything you need to know about us. If you want to speak to us further about anything, then please see details on Who's Who page.
January 2021 - Church services are currently suspended
With deep regret we have decided to suspend 10.15am Sunday services at St. Denys Church for the next few weeks, starting from tomorrow, 10 January 2021.
Below are some online resources people may find helpful.
Official weekly diocese service, recorded around the diocese with different churches/preachers involved
St Aldates Church, Oxford (more charismatic/lively in emphasis)
St Ebbs Church, Oxford – known for excellent bible teaching
The latest messages are now all available on this YouTube channel (you don't need to login to access this). Some sermons are only available as text:
Our usual pattern is now a 10:15 Holy Communion service each Sunday except the 4th Sunday when it will be Morning Worship. Worshippers are reminded they will need to follow government guidance and wear a face covering unless they have a health reason that prevents them. We are also starting St Denys Kids in the small village hall in Stanford for up to 15 reception to year 6 children. Would parents guardians please drop children at the small village hall by 10:10 and pick them up from there after the service.
